Dear 5th Grade Students and Families,
I am excited about leading this year’s Safety Patrol program and look forward to working with you! In last week’s Welcome Back letter, I enclosed a Patrol application form. The patrol application is due by Friday, August 18th. You can return it directly to me or to your advisory teacher during the first week of school.
Here are some important guidelines of our Patrol Program:
To celebrate the accomplishments of our patrols, we will host a lunch party at the end of each rotation. Patrols will get their next rotation assignment at each party. Each month, all teachers from the elementary faculty will elect a PKY Patrol of the Month who has served as an exemplary role-model for their peers and the school. Also, at the end of the year, we will have a special PK Patrol celebration! You will not want to miss it!
I look forward to working with a great group of 5th grade patrols!

Here are some important guidelines of our Patrol Program:
- Patrols are expected to be on-duty by 7:45 each morning
- Patrols are expected to be responsible students and role models.
- Patrols are expected to wear their belts the whole school day, except for recess and PE.
- If a patrol has more than 5 absences in a rotation, they will not be able to attend the end of rotation party.
- If a patrol receives a referral at any time during the year, they will be removed from their post for that rotation, and cannot attend that rotation party. Also, they will be on warning for the next patrol rotation.
- If a patrol receives a second referral, they will be removed from the Patrol squad entirely.
